Brazil pink pepper 2023 - Does Spice

Brazil pink pepper 2023

Brazil has had some extreme weather which will effect the 2023 crop for pink pepper. The off-season was marked by exceptional rainfall as never seen before during October-February. This has caused losses of trees.

The plain areas were inundated, causising serious damage. The outlook is that in the coming season not more than 100 mtons of premium and first grade will become available. Blooming season has just started, first shipments are foreseen by the end of June or in July; depending on the weather conditions.

Pink peppercorns are a type of spice that come from the Brazilian pepper tree, which is also known as the Peruvian pepper tree or the rose pepper tree. Despite their name, they are not actually related to true peppercorns, which come from the Piper nigrum plant. Pink peppercorns have a sweet and slightly fruity flavor, with a mild peppery taste that is less pungent than black pepper. They are often used in spice blends and as a garnish for dishes, especially in French and Mediterranean cuisine. They also pair well with poultry, fish, and vegetables.
